RAGWEED FLOWER MOTH

Schinia rivulosa

OWLET MOTH FAMILY (Noctuidae)

Description
This moth has a wingspan of a little more than one inch. Its folded forewings have a fuzzy, dark gray to black pattern, separated by thin white, wavy lines.

Occurrence
This moth is fairly common in Fontenelle Forest and Neale Woods, probably because of the abundance there of ragweed, on which its larvae feed. They have one generation per year and can be seen from July through October.
