JUMPING BRISTLETAIL

Jumping Bristletails were formerly part of the order Thysanura with Silverfish. They are now in the order Microcoryphia.  There are two families in North America, Machilidae and Meinertellidae.  Species in the Meinertellidae differ from Machilidiae species in lacking scales on the basal antennal segments. Some species of Machilidae are parthenogenetic meaning they consist only of females.
