GRAPHISURUS FASCIATUS

Grapisurus fasciatus

LONG- HORNED BEETLES (Cerambycidae)

Description
A mottled light brown and dark brown beetle about ½ inch long (12 mm). Characteristic of this family the antennae are very long. Photo A is the male and PhotoB is the female (with ovipositor). This beetle was identified with the help of experts at Bugguide.net.

Occurrence
This beetle is found associated with numerous hardwood trees. We would expect it to be common in Fontenelle Forest. These two were photographed at the nature center.

Comments
It comes to UV lights.
