LONG-HORN BEETLES (Cerambycidae)
Description
This beetle was identified with the help of experts at Bugguide.net. This genus includes 15 similar species across the continent. This beetle was about 5/8 inch long with very long antenna. It has a black thorax and light brown banded elytra.
Occurrence
Adults are found from May to August on flowers in the parsely family.: Larvae live in decaying oak, hickory and other hardwoods. Its occurrence at Fontenelle Nature Center is not known but should be common as members of this family are common.
Comments
Flower long horned beetles are members of the Lepturidae subfamily of the long horn beetles.
