Description
This native shrub grows to about 8 feet tall and looks similar to common elderberry and some of the dogwoods (Cornus). The tips of the leaf blades are variable in shape (A) and they are finely serrate (D). The creamy-white flowers are arranged in compound cymes. The fruit (not yet potographed) is a blue-black drupe

Occurrence
Only one specimen has been found so far, overhanging the pond on the floodplain of Neale Woods. This specimen is the first one documented for Washington County.
